Grow Your Own Oyster Mushrooms

July 29th, 2017 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Have you ever wanted to learn how to grow mushrooms at home? Oyster mushrooms are a great place to start! This eager and delicious fungus can be grown on a number of different substrates, making it one of the easiest mushrooms to grow.

In this class, we'll learn about the benefits of oyster mushrooms, and the methods of cultivation from spore to fruit body. You'll also learn what substrates can be used, how to take a spore print, and how to continue propagation beyond a final flush of growth.

In addition, you'll leave with your own Oyster spawn bag to grown at home!

Our "Fung-guy" is actually a "Fung-gal" and she is our fellow Garden Dreamer, Erin Nihiser.

Erin is a mycophile, cautious mushroom forager, and a self-taught home-grower. From the simple curiosity of an inky cap mushroom to the home cultivation of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, she has never once stopped being in awe of the Kingdom Fungi.
