Our Mission

Welcome to Garden Dreams!  Our mission is to supply the home gardener with a combination of strong seedlings and garden education which will hopefully add up to an enjoyable gardening experience for them.  We are open to any and all questions about gardening and how to do it organically! We provide for sale open-pollinated and heirloom varieties that we grow and test ourselves so we know they do well in Pittsburgh.

Our specialty is tomatoes....we grow over 95 varieties of tomato seedlings in every color of the rainbow, as well as an intriguing array of sweet and hot peppers and eggplants.  Other seedling offerings include herbs both culinary and medicinal, a wide array of vegetables, flowers including native, and perennial fruit.  We also sell compost, mulch, and organic gardening supplies.

We are a small woman owned and operated business, with Danielle Marvit, as Production Manager running the day to day operation. This year marks an exciting season as we add two new managers to our team: Catherine Zagare as our new Garden Manager and Katy Lydon as our new Sales and Outreach Manager.  Both positions are intended to help our team reach out to the community more thru hands-on garden learning, education outreach and community development. Owner Mindy Schwartz is still involved with the overall focus of the business and helps her team dream big for the future. We hope to offer more learning opportunities and reach a wider audience as we expand and grow our operation over the next couple years.

We sell our certified organic seedlings at our farm from April - July, as well as through retailers around the Pittsburgh area.  We work with schools and community gardens to provide seedlings at a discount from our retail price.  We also offer unique garden education workshops, free community events, a brand new summer camp, workshare program, and more. Come down and visit our little oasis in Wilkinsburg...ask us some gardening questions, attend a workshop, get your hands dirty, and grab a seedling or two!
